Welcome to the School of Economics and Finance

Welcome to the School of Economics and Finance at Queen Mary, University of London. You can anticipate joining one of the UK's best economics departments, ranked jointly sixth in the most recent (2008) Research Assessment Exercise, as well as coming top in London for teaching according to the 2011 National Student Survey, and 6th in the UK overall.

Our faculty members are distinguished research economists who publish in the profession's most influential journals and advise major institutions such as the World Bank and the Bank of England.

We offer a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate Economics programme, including Masters degrees and PhD research degrees. Our staff have diverse research interests and as well as regularly publishing the results of our research in leading economic journals, they provide first-rate teaching on undergraduate and graduate programmes, within a friendly, welcoming atmosphere with an emphasis on student learning and support.

MSc Additional Modules

To give students a head start in working in Finance, we are running extra classes such as Introduction to Electronic Trading, Portfolio Management, Bloomberg Training Programme and C++ for Finance.

School of Economics and Finance excels in National Student Survey (NSS)

The 2011 National Student Survey has confirmed the School of Economics and Finance as one of the top UK Economics Schools for student experience. 93% of our students have rated the overall quality of their course good or very good, 8% points above the national average for Economics Schools. This result places the School in seventh position among all UK Economics Schools for overall student satisfaction.
