Marika's research output relates to macroeconomic modelling, applied econometrics, time series analysis, and empirical finance. The dynamics of inflation and unemployment, and the New Keynesian Phillips curve are at the centre of her research. In particular, her work evolves around (i) the natural rate of unemployment, the persistence of shocks in multi-equation macro-labour market models, and the development of the chain reaction theory of unemployment, and (ii) the inflation-unemployment trade off using macro models with price and wage sluggishness. She also examines the simultaneous feedback between inflation and inflation uncertainty using GARCH-M-L models, and the mean reversion in interest rates.
