MSc Degrees in Economics and Finance

Economics and Finance Postgraduate Studies Brochure

Each programme is closely tied to the interests of one or more of the School's research groups, ensuring you are exposed to the latest thinking in your chosen specialist field.

Full-time students take four courses in the autumn semester and four in the spring semester - the courses you take depend on your degree. Part time students will typically take half of that number of courses in their first year, and half in their second. All courses are examined in May or early June. A dissertation, which will normally include both theoretical economic content and applied results, is then written over the summer months, and submitted by the end of September. An overall pass is required on the written examinations before proceeding to the dissertation, which must itself be passed to obtain the degree.

Please note that the MSc Finance and Economics programme will no longer be offered from September 2012. Applicants who were interested in applying for this programme can apply for either the MSc Finance or MSc Finance and Econometrics.

If you are unsure which MSc is right for you then please look at our 'which MSc' page for guidance.
