Peter Westaway

Dr. Peter Westaway is Visiting Professor of Economics at QMUL. He is also Nomura’s new Chief Economist for Europe. He is based in London and is in overall charge of the European economies in the Global Economics group with particular expertise in the UK economy.

In previous roles, he has been a Divisional Head at the Bank of England with responsibility for analysis and research on financial markets for the MPC. Earlier, in 2002-3, he worked for the HM Treasury and provided analytical input to HMT’s EMU Five Tests Assessment. He has also been a Senior Research Fellow at the National Institute of Economic and Social Research and was in charge of the team responsible for modelling and forecasting the UK economy.
