Football Championship update Winter 2010-11
The Economics and Finance Football Competition continues to enthral the ever-growing hoards of spectators who converge upon the Sports Hall every Wednesday at 1pm, keen to devour the feast of world-class football on offer.

Imagery Competition 2011
The Semester B competition is now underway, and again has the theme of 'Public Spending Cuts'. Entrants are invited to submit a photograph which they feel provides evidence or commentary of cuts in public spending. The closing date for entries is Thursday 31st March 2011.

Trading Tournament reaches its climax
With less than two days of trading left the competition is on a knife edge. The recent events in Japan have caused havoc in the markets with most securities experiencing a drop in value over the last week.
The rankings in the QMUL Masters Trading Tournament have switched around considerably and the top prize is still far from certain.
The tournament itself finishes at 6pm on Friday the 18th March 2011 (so be sure to make your final transactions shortly). The league table will continue on so that those wish to keep trading will have the opportunity to do so.

Trading Tournament news
There is less than two weeks to go on the QMUL Masters Trading Tournament. There are a number of participants that are still in the race for the £1000 prize for the winner!
At present the Tournament leader is Nick Lesson, who has accrued a 2.85% return on his £100,000 virtual portfolio. The top ten members as at midday on 7th March 2011 are listed in the table below:

Notice for all members of the Trading tournament
All participants will have received a message into the inbox of their existing trading account on the current platform. The message contains information that must be followed, so please ensure that you read the message as soon as possible.
The organisers will be available on Thursday 17th February between 11am and midday in room W302A of the Queens building(where registration took place) to answer any new questions that you may have relating to the trading competition.

Masters Trading Tournament
The School of Economics and Finance is holding a trading tournament for postgraduate students, starting on Monday 7th February and finishing on Friday 18th March 2011.
Registration for the tournament is £10.00, with each participant receiving a simulated amount of money to invest; the winner will have the honour of being the ‘2011 Queen Mary Masters Trading Champion', as well as receiving a £1000 prize. The first runner up will receive a £200 prize and the third runner up will receive a £100 prize.
Economics Student Winner of National Essay Competition!
Congratulations to Mohamed Ismail for winning the "StudyingEconomics Essay Competition"!
This is a national competition organised by the Economics Network and supported by the Royal Economics Society. This year's competition asked students to write an essay on "How is your economics degree preparing you for life?"
