Visiting Vietnam

On the 21st of April Sarah Riley (PG programme Manager) and Dr Alfonsina Iona (Programme Director for Investment and Finance and Banking and Finance) visited Vietnam for a week. While there, they were visited by a number of students that had applied, or were considering applying, to study an MSc in the School of Economics and Finance. They visited Hanoi in the North and Ho Chi Minh in the South of Vietnam. Alfonsina gave a presentation of her research in Hanoi at the Academy of Banking and the Foreign Trade University to around 40 students and staff at each institution. Sarah and Alfonsina also took the opportunity to meet with the 2011 graduates from QMUL. They took them for dinner and were delighted to hear that all 10 that attended had secured full time employment in Ministry of Finance, Financial Institutions, Banks and also Academia. Sarah say’s “it was a great trip and really productive. It was encouraging to meet so many potential students and our recent graduates who we could not be more proud of. Vietnam is an amazing country and we look forward to welcoming our current applicants in September”.
Alfonsina say’s: It was really nice to see how our graduates were so friendly between each other and with us and to hear from them “thanks to Queen Mary we have now the job we were looking for and in our country” because this is ultimately the aim of our Master programmes: building good human relationships and giving to students the chance to succeed professionally.
